RESEARCH INTERESTS

Prof Raad has had over 25 years of experience in industrial and academic research. Over this period, he has delivered many industrial research projects and has been granted a number of important patents as well as publishing in high impact and prestigious journals. In industry, he was awarded three patents while another 2 were published. Prof Raad's research has been published in IEEE Communications Surveys and Tutorials (IF 20.23); a comprehensive work on access protocols for low power Radio Frequency Identification Tags (RFIDs). He has also published in IEEE Transactions on Wireless Communications , IEEE Transactions on Vehicular Technologies , ELSEVIER Journal of Network and Computer Applications, IEEE Access, ELSEVIER Pervasive and Mobile Computing and most recently in Sensors. Overall, his main research interest are in Antenna design, space, wireless power transfer, Machine learning, IoT and wireless communications in general.

    The aim of this project is to develop sustainable wireless power solutions for Internet of Things (IoT) devices in smart cities like Dubai. This project aims to create rectennas that harvest ambient RF energy from sources like Wi-Fi and mobile networks. These rectennas, coupled with AI-driven Power Management Units, will provide efficient, low-maintenance power for IoT devices, reducing environmental impact and enhancing network durability. This project highlights significant international research collaboration and innovation.
