BIO
Tehei is scientific leader in the theme Targeted Nano Therapies at the Centre for Medical Radiation Physics at the University of Wollongong. Tehei leads the new advances in targeted nanoparticle dose enhanced image guided research topic with a goal to ultimately translate this research to clinical practice. Tehei designed the experimental approach and secured ethics permission to investigate the in-vitro and in-vivo radiosensitivities of 9L gliosarcomas treated with nanoparticles, drugs and radiation at the hospital and the Australian synchrotron. Tehei has experience in the application of anti-cancer drugs, multimodal treatments, nanoparticle targeting and Synchrotron radiation since 2004. Tehei was scientific leader and member of the leadership group for the Diagnostics and Therapeutics theme at the Illawarra Health and Medical Research Institute. Tehei established several national and international collaborations in oncology, nanotechnology, synchrotron radiation and cancer biology. Tehei supervises PhD students in medical physics, nanomedicine, image guided therapies, synchrotron radiation and multidisciplinary treatment techniques to combat brain cancers. Those PhD students were awarded prizes in engineering and physical sciences in medicine conferences. Tehei research was supported by both small and competitive grants including one NHMRC Project Grant where Tehei was lead CI. Tehei actively engages in outreach and dissemination of the team research by organizing relevant conferences (Radiation 2012; Innovation in Radiation Applications 2017) with distinguished roles (conference/session chair). Tehei is editorial board member of Scientific reports (Nature Publishing Group) and Journal of Nanotheranostics (MDPI). At the University of Wollongong, Tehei is Head of the Postgraduate Studies in Physics, and integrity officer. Tehei is Academic Program Director of the Master of Science (Medical Radiation Physics) and UoW Program Director of the Australasian College of Physical Scientists and Engineers in Medicine (ACPSEM) and the Commission on Accreditation of Medical Physics Education Program (CAMPEP).
