Overview


Dr. Neaz Sheikh is an Associate Professor in the School of Civil, Mining and Environmental Engineering at the University of Wollongong. A/Prof. Sheikh obtained Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering from Chittagong University of Engineering and Technology (CUET), Bangladesh. Immediately after his graduation, he was appointed as a Lecturer in the Department of Civil Engineering at CUET. He obtained MPhil and PhD in Structural Engineering from the University of Hong Kong, Hong Kong SAR. He was a Research Fellow in the Department of Civil Engineering at the University of Sherbrooke, Quebec, Canada. A/Prof.  Sheikh joined in the School of Civil, Mining and Environmental Engineering at the University of Wollongong in 2007. 

Prof. Sheikh is an internationally recognized expert in Earthquake Engineering and Structural Dynamics. He has gained national and international research reputation for his extensive research on low to moderate seismic regions. He has authored over 100 articles in highly reputed international journals conference proceedings. His applied research has contributed to the development of several standards and codes of practice. He is a regular reviewer for research articles submitted for the highly ranked journals encompassing structural engineering, earthquake engineering and protective structures. He is on the Editorial Board of the Journal of Geotechnical Earthquake Engineering.

  • A/Prof Sheikh is an internationally recognized expert in Earthquake Engineering and Structural Dynamics. He has gained national and international research reputation for his extensive research on low to moderate seismic regions. He has authored over 100 articles in highly reputed international journals and conference proceedings. His applied research has contributed to the development of several standards and codes of practice. He has supervised to completion six PhD graduates and currently supervising ten PhD students. He is a regular reviewer for research articles submitted to highly ranked journals encompassing structural engineering, earthquake engineering, and protective structures. He is on the Editorial Board of the Journal of Geotechnical Earthquake Engineering.
