BIO
Dr Zhiguang Zhang is an early career researcher with interdisciplinary expertise in behavioural epidemiology, education, and public health. Her research examines young children's sleep, screen use, and physical activity to support healthy development in early childhood.
Her work has influenced policy internationally, with her publications cited in more than 40 policy documents by intergovernmental organisations (such as the OECD) and national health and education agencies. She served on the Guideline Development Group for the Australian 24-Hour Movement Guidelines for the Early Years and for Children and Young People, and contributed to the WHO Guidelines on Physical Activity, Sedentary Behaviour and Sleep for Children Under 5 Years, as well as WHO Standards for early childhood education and care settings.
Dr Zhang has published more than 40 journal articles in the research area of movement behaviours and is the first author on 19 of these publications. Her contribution in this area has been recognised with several international awards including the Christian Guilleminault Young Investigator Award from the World Sleep Society, a Young Investigator Award from the International Pediatric Sleep Association and an ECR Scholarship from the International Society of Behavioral Nutrition and Physical Activity.
Dr Zhang currently serves as the Associate Editor of the International Journal of Behavioural Nutrition and Physical Activity—a leading journal ranking top 5% in the ‘physiology’ category—and Editorial Board Member of Journal of Physical Activity and Health.
A recent ARC DECRA recipient, Dr Zhang is committed to translating research into practical tools and strategies that help families promote healthy screen use, sleep, and development in young children.
