Dr Winson Lee has held roles as Program Director/ Leader in Biomedical Engineering as well as Prosthetics and Orthotics programs in Australia and Hong Kong, leading to successful accreditation from national and international associations. He received the prestigious Sir Edward Youde Memorial Fellowship for outstanding PhD students in Hong Kong. Prior to moving to Australia, he gained professorship in Biomedical Engineering and established extensive international research collaborations across the Asia-Pacific region.

For 15+ years, Dr Lee has led research involving the use of mechanical design complemented with wearable technology in analysing and enhancing human movements across diverse populations, including older adults, people with lower-limb amputations, stroke and cerebral palsy. More recently, he has established an interdisciplinary research program focused on developing digital biomarkers for aging, depression and dementia, combining biomedical engineering, neuroscience and data analytics to support early detection and monitoring of various health conditions. He has published more than 60 journal papers indexed in Scopus (majority in top 20% journals; cumulatively attracted ~2,000 citations) and secured more than A$1 million in research grants as leading Principal Investigator. Many of his former research students, supervised as principal supervisor, now hold substantive positions in universities and government organisations.

Dr Lee is currently the Associate Editor of Physical and Engineering Sciences in Medicine and a topic board member of Sensors. Externally, he has served as a major research grant assessor (e.g. HMRF, Swiss National Science Foundation), external PhD examiner, education program assessor, and keynote speaker at international conferences.
