Dr Jayan S Vinod is an Associate Professor in the School of Civil, Mining, Environmental, and Architectural (CMEA) Engineering at the University of Wollongong. His key research areas include discrete element modelling of geomaterials, soil dynamics, and transport geomechanics. His current research focuses on the application of waste materials for various infrastructure construction. He is the recipient of the Australia-India EMCR Fellowship from the Australian Academy of sciences. He is an associate editor for the Journal of Materials in Civil Engineering (ASCE)[Q1]; Ground Improvement Journal (ICE)[Q2] and also editor-in-chief for the International Journal of Geotechnical Earthquake Engineering (IGI Global)[Q3].  He maintains strong relationships with industry through numerous competitive research grants (e.g. ARC, CRC, other govt/UOW funded grants). He has published over 125 refereed journal and conference papers and has delivered many invited and keynote lectures in his research area. He previously served as Head of Students (HoST) for the Master of Engineering (ME) program in Engineering and Information Sciences (EIS), as well as Academic Program Director (APD) for the ME program in the School of CMEA. He is currently serving as the Deputy Head of Postgraduate Studies in the School of Engineering.
