As the world pursues net zero emissions, renewable fuels like green hydrogen, ammonia and methanol will become important. Such renewable fuels, and green products created from them, offer the only viable means to decarbonise hard-to-abate industries like steel, shipping, aviation, and chemicals. The ARC Centre of Excellence for Renewable Fuels aims to exploit fundamental science to innovate next-generation technologies that will expand the renewable fuels industry and give Australia a competitive edge in their export. In so doing, the Centre will help to transform Australia from a major fossil fuel exporter to the world’s largest exporter of renewable energy, with global decarbonisation impact, while also training the next generation workforce.
