I am a cognitive scientist specialising in visual perception, eye movements, and the mechanisms that shape how we see and understand the world. My research explores how humans gather visual information, make sense of complex scenes, and adapt their attention to changing environments.

Since joining UOW in 2017, I have taken on several leadership roles, including Deputy Head of School (Research), Acting and Deputy Head of Postgraduate Studies (HPS), ASSH Faculty representative on the Defence Working Group, and member of the Faculty workload committee. These roles have allowed me to support the growth of research culture, postgraduate training, and strategic development across the School and Faculty.

I contribute to the global research community as a member of the editorial boards for Scientific Reports, the Journal of Eye Movement Research and Frontiers in Virtual Reality. I also regularly assess grant proposals for 11 major international funding agencies across 8 countries and serve as a reviewer for over 50 scientific journals.

Before joining UOW, I held academic positions across the UK and Europe, including Senior Lecturer at Bournemouth University (where I directed the Cognition and Cognitive Neuroscience Research Centre), Lecturer at the iBMlab (University of Fribourg, Switzerland), and Research Associate at the Centre for Cognitive Neuroimaging and the Institute of Neuroscience and Psychology (University of Glasgow). I completed my PhD in Psychology in 2004 at the University of Lille (URECA – Cognition and Action Research Unit), France.

Throughout my career, I have been committed to mentoring and training the next generation of researchers. I have supervised 3 Postdoctoral Fellows, 14 PhD students, 4 Masters students, and 34 Honours students, and have developed and taught 12 subjects at UOW—and more than 30 across my academic career—many of which sit at the core of psychology education.
