BIO

I am an archaeologist who is interested in the study of human evolution through analysing stone tools. Because of its durable nature, stone tool provides a long record of human behaviour over the last 2-3 million years. My research focuses on studying the ways ancient humans used stone resources as a technological means to interact with their environment. I have studied archaeological stone tools made by different hominin species from Europe, Africa, East Asia, Southeast Asia and Australia. My current projects focus on the stone artifacts made by H. floresiensis and modern humans in Indonesia, as well as Upper Paleolithic materials from China.

I studied Archaeology and Physical Geography at the University of Auckland, and completed my doctoral studies at the University of Pennsylvania in 2014. Afterwards, I spent 6 months at the Max Planck Institute for Evolutionary Anthropology in Leipzig as a Post-Doctoral Fellow, before joining to the University of Wollongong in 2016.
