BIO
Prof. Ping Yu is an internationally recognised leader in digital health and aged care, known for her transformative contributions to improving health outcomes through innovative technologies. With over 20 years of experience at the forefront of research, she applies data science, artificial intelligence (AI), and socio-technical approaches to address real-world challenges across health and aged care systems.
Prof. Yu has achieved sustained research excellence, securing numerous prestigious grants, including three from the Australian Research Council. Her research boasts 5,792 Google Scholar citations, with 59% earned since 2020. She has received highly competitive honours like the 2022 Telstra Brilliant Women in Digital Health Award and the Don Walker Award, acknowledging her thought leadership and innovation.
Her interdisciplinary expertise spans health data science, AI, and health informatics, with specialised knowledge in data quality and digital solutions for aged care. As Director of UOW’s Centre for Digital Transformation (2013–2020), Prof. Yu led multi-disciplinary teams to deliver cutting-edge projects addressing policy and practical challenges, mentoring 29 postgraduate researchers to completion.
Furthermore, she collaborates with global bodies such as the WHO, NSW Health and 11+ aged care providers. She has enabled digital transformations like the World Health Organization's eSTEPS platform, and AI-driven analytics that improve resource use. Prof. Yu’s leadership continues to inspire advancements in health and aged care services, delivering lasting benefits to both the academic and public sectors.
