BIO

Dr Amirghasemi has a PhD in Operations Research and is currently a Senior Lecturer in Business Analytics at the Faculty of Business and Law at the University of Wollongong (UOW). His main research area is the design and analysis of metaheuristic analytics methods, along with the application of these in multiple areas, such as operations research, supply chains and logistics, network design, and social media. Despite being an early career researcher, his work on these methods has already been published in highly reputed journals such as Annals of Operations Research, Expert Systems with Applications, Applied Intelligence, Evolutionary Computation (MIT Press), and Computers & Industrial Engineering. He has also published several book chapters and conference papers in multiple well-known book series, namely Computational Intelligence Techniques for Green Smart Cities (Springer), Springer Tracts in Nature-Inspired Computing (STNIC), Handbook of Smart Cities, and Lecture Notes in Computer Science (LNCS).

Dr Amirghasemi has managed to secure and/or extensively contribute to over 20 research grants and commercial research projects, valued at over A$2M. Just one of these high-impact research projects is ArkiCity, an award-winning, innovative city planning mobile application that has attracted several research grants and awards. In addition, he is currently serving as a Chief Investigator on two research projects funded by Australian Research Council (ARC).
