BIO

Dr Luke Johnson is a writer and academic with a strong interest in interdisciplinary practice-led research and creative collaboration. He is the author of the short story collection Ferocious Animals (2021) and the poetry collection Kangaroo Unbound (2025), as well as dozens of individual creative works, which have appeared in such places as Griffith Review, Southerly, Island, Westerly, Overland, HEAT, Going Down Swinging, Mascara Literary Review, The Lifted Brow, Meniscus and TEXT. He has won or been listed for such national awards as the Josephine Ulrick Prize, Elizabeth Jolley Prize, Katharine Susannah Prichard Award, AAWP Chapter One Prize and the Albury City Short Story Prize. He has collaborated with Archibald Prize winning artist Garry Shead on an exhibition of poetry and art, and is currently co-writing a musical, which has undergone development at Hayes Theatre. His scholarly research has been published in numerous high-ranking international journals and presented at conferences locally and abroad.
