BIO
Loretta is a fractional Lecturer in Finance in the School of Business. She enjoyed a 25 year career in the finance sector before joining the University of Wollongong in 2007.
Loretta employs her unique Certified Financial Planner practitioner expertise to develop her research and teaching priorities, enabling her to contribute to the areas of finance, banking, financial planning, superannuation and work-integrated learning.
Loretta teaches finance subjects and is involved in graduate employment prospects. Loretta has been nominated for several University of Wollongong Outstanding Contribution to Teaching and Learning awards and placed 2nd in a national Lecturer of the Year award.
Loretta is completing PhD studies on retirement income policy for Australian baby boomers, which builds upon her superannuation research associated with her Master of Finance course, completed in 2016, and complements her Master of Commerce in Financial Planning, completed in 2009. Loretta has presented at a number of conferences, with her work on sequencing risk published in the Financial Planning Research Journal.
Loretta is a member of the Academy of Financial Services, a global academic membership organisation focused on research and teaching standards in the profession of financial planning, and those interested in the role of research to improve professional standards, and is regularly approached to provide media commentary on areas associated with superannuation, baby boomers, financial literacy and retirement.
Loretta was a member of the Financial Planning Academics Forum (2011-2024), a specialist group that developed national research and teaching strategic objectives for financial planning. Loretta was awarded funding for UOW to host an education forum, leading to the development of national education policies for financial planners.
Loretta maintains a variety of links with industry and advocates for a culture of continuous improvement and accountability.
