TEACHING INTERESTS

My Teaching career spans over 25+ years across primary secondary higher education and vocational education. I have held roles as a teaching Assistant Principal inside NSW Education, utilising Aboriginal Cultural pedagogies within my teaching methods. At the secondary level I have taught a variety of subject including history, geograpghy, and Aboriginal studies. Through TAFE NSW role was Aboriginal Education Training Unit Manager and therefore held both teaching roles and administrative responsibilities. Inside of my TAFE teaching I taught a variety of courses from Aboriginal Languages, to Outdoor Education (Surfing), and Aboriginal community engangement across many faculties. I also had responsibility to develop teaching programs and courses to meet the Aboriginal Community needs. In my manager role I won several state awards for gaining funding to write and implement courses that led to fulltime employment outcomes for students.   Over the past three years I have coordinated the development of a full new Curriculum in Aboriginal Languages and contributed to embedding Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Perspectives in a suite of subjects including, Science, Marine Science, Performing Arts (Dance, Drama, Music), Visual Arts, Geography and Earth and Environmental Science Syllabus for NSW Education Standard Authority (NESA), and contributed to Australian Curriculum, Assessment and Reporting Authority (ACARA) Aboriginal languages curriculum. Inside of the academy I have experince in a variety of lecturing and tutoring opportunities in bothUndergrad and Masters portfolios, across humanities and the arts, education, sciences and  Aboriginal studies. More recently I have been asked to develop a short course around Aboriginal Cultural knowledges related to Aboriginal Land and Sea Rangers for Local Aboriginal Land and Sea Rangers coordinating with DPI Fisheries. I am a regular guest lecturer in professional and higher-degree courses within UoW and RMIT. These are internally and Externally, regionally, State, Nationally and Internationally delivered via in person or via Teams.
