Dr Jenny (Jing) Wang is a Senior Lecturer in Accounting in the School of Business at the University of Wollongong. She completed her PhD in Accounting at the University of Waikato, New Zealand, in 2019. Her doctoral thesis, “Power, Accommodation and Resistance: A Foucauldian Perspective on How Internal Management Controls are Compromised in Chinese Hotels”, examined how management control systems are shaped by organisational power, employee resistance, and institutional contexts.

Jenny's research explores how accounting and auditing shape accountability, governance, transparency, and sustainable business practice. Her interdisciplinary research spans auditing, corporate governance, accounting history, accounting education, sustainability reporting, modern slavery disclosure, and the application of artificial intelligence in accounting. Employing both qualitative and quantitative research methods, she generates evidence that informs professional practice, public policy, and accounting education. Her recent research focuses on modern slavery disclosure, audit quality, textual analysis of key audit matters, accounting development under different political systems, and the opportunities and challenges of generative artificial intelligence in accounting and auditing, contributing to policy discussions on responsible business conduct and the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals. Her research has been published in leading international journals, including Abacus, Accounting & Finance, Critical Perspectives on Accounting, Journal of Accounting Literature, Journal of Contemporary Accounting & Economics, Australian Journal of Management, Pacific-Basin Finance Journal, International Review of Financial Analysis, and Finance Research Letters.

Jenny serves as Deputy Editor of Accounting & Finance and is a member of the Editorial Boards of Accounting Education and the Journal of Accounting Literature. She is also the Guest Editor of the Accounting & Finance Special Issue, The Impact of Large Language Models (LLMs) on Accounting and Financial Practices, reflecting her research leadership in the application of artificial intelligence to accounting and finance. Through these editorial roles, she contributes to advancing high-quality research and supporting the international accounting research community. She is regularly invited to deliver research seminars at leading universities and to review manuscripts for internationally recognised accounting journals, reflecting the international recognition of her research expertise and scholarly leadership.

Jenny is passionate about research-led education and mentoring the next generation of accounting scholars. She teaches across undergraduate and postgraduate accounting programs, supervises Higher Degree Research (HDR) candidates, and serves as Research Integrity Advisor and Academic Integrity Officer in the UOW Business School. She actively collaborates with researchers, professional bodies, and universities worldwide and welcomes enquiries from prospective HDR candidates, visiting scholars, and research collaborators interested in auditing, corporate governance, sustainability reporting, modern slavery disclosure, accounting history, accounting education, and artificial intelligence in accounting.
