BIO

Dr. Hui Wu is currently an Honorary Fellow in the School of Mechanical, Materials, Mechatronic and Biomedical Engineering at the University of Wollongong (UOW). He was appointed as a full-time Associate Research Fellow and then a Research Fellow, right after receiving his PhD at UOW in 2017. His expertise falls into the fields of materials, mechanical and manufacturing engineering. His specific research interests include tribology and nanolubrication in metal forming, advanced rolling technology, composite materials, self-lubricating materials, wear resistant materials, materials characterisation, phase transformation of steels, and micro manufacturing.

As a chief/key investigator, Dr. Wu has been involved in 2 ARC DPs, 2 ARC LPs, 4 Baosteel‐Australia Joint Research & Development Centre (BAJC) projects, 3 Australian Coal Association Research Program (ACARP) projects, and 1 China Coal Technology & Engineering Group Corp (CCTEG) project, which covered interdisciplinary research revolving around tribology, metal forming, micro manufacturing, and novel materials. The research findings obtained in these projects have been published in >80 quality papers, which attracted >2,300 citations with an h-index of 26 (Google Scholar). As an Early-Mid Career Researcher, Dr. Wu’s research achievements have been highly recognised by the international community. For example, one of his publications in Tribology International was recognised as “Highly Cited Paper” by Web of Science in both 2020 and 2021, and another two publications won the “Best Paper Award”. He is serving as a Youth/Guest/Review/Topic Editor for 4 international journals (including International Journal of Extreme Manufacturing, IF>16) and as a member of the Editorial Board/Reviewer Board/Youth Editorial Board/Topical Advisory Panel for 6 international journals. He is also serving as an active referee for over 30 international journals, including some top journals in engineering such as Materials & Design, Journal of Materials Research and Technology, Tribology International, Wear, Friction, Journal of Cleaner Production, International Journal of Mechanical Sciences, and Journal of Alloys and Compounds, etc.
