RESEARCH INTERESTS

Hironori's research interests lie in the areas of international political economy, global labour migration, gender relations, and human as well as national security, with special reference to the Asia-Pacific region. Focusing on the contexts of Japan and the Philippines, his doctoral research explored comparatively how policies regarding migration and labour markets in both the sending and receiving states shape and are shaped by the political contestation and political agency of migrant workers.
