BIO
As a Post Doctoral Research Fellow at the Australian National Centre for Ocean Resources and Security (ANCORS), my research explores the societal impacts of change in coastal communities, including the emergence of blue economy industries. I examine human-coastal relationships, including the social and spatial dynamics of coastal change and emotional connections to marine environments.
I am interested in exploring equitable models of ocean governance, that make space for alternative knowledges, and place communities at the heart of decisions affecting their future. I am committed to exploring creative approaches to addressing environmental change and navigating future uncertainty for coastal communities.
I hold a PhD in Human Geography from the University of Wollongong. My research focused on emotional and embodied coral reef encounters, specifically how immersive encounters with marine megafauna (such as humpback whales and whale sharks) facilitated conservation outcomes, such as extended relations of care for the natural world.
