Fiona Morris is a photographer and Associate Lecturer in Visual Arts and Photography. Her practice explores representation within documentary photography, with a particular focus on women and communities experiencing displacement. Her research considers ethics, authenticity, and the impact of hyperphotography on contemporary visual culture.

Alongside her research, Fiona Morris has over 20 years’ experience working across media and non-government organisations, including Fairfax Media, Getty Images, Médecins Sans Frontières and Greenpeace Australia. She was commissioned by Médecins Sans Frontières to photograph women and children who were survivors of sexual and family violence in Tari, Papua New Guinea, producing images used as evidence and records for a report advocating for increased medical care.

Fiona’s photographs have been exhibited nationally and internationally, including in the United States, France, Lithuania and Hong Kong. Her work is held in major Australian public collections, including the National Library of Australia, the Museum of Sydney and the State Library of NSW.
