BIO

Professor Zengxi (Stephen) Pan has a research reputation of international standing and recognition in industrial robotics, offline programming, wire arc additive manufacturing (WAAM) and industry 4.0. He has more than 190 publications in refereed journals and international conferences, with over 16,000 google scholar citations. He is considered as one of the world renowned expert in WAAM with top numbers in both publications and citations.

Since 2008, he has been the project leader for Defence Material Technology Centre (DMTC) and Rail Manufacturing Cooperative Research Centre (RMCRC), leading 13 research projects with a total value over AU$6.0mil. The projects under his leadership have had major impacts on the Australian Defence Industry and the Australian Manufacturing industry. This has been recognised through multiple prestigious national awards, including National Innovation Award at the Pacific Maritime Exposition 2015, and Australia Eureka Prize for Outstanding Science in Safeguarding Australia. He is 27 HDR students graduated and currently supervising 14 master by research and PhD students.
