    Research areas: Computation modelling (stress analysis) of human body, human body movement analysis, medical device design and evaluation, prosthetics and orthotics, bioinstrumentation, biomechanics and smart technologies for work health and safety.

    Research graduates (PhD/ Master by Research students) of Dr Lee are currently working at substantive positions in university and government organizations.

    Both Engineers and Clinicians are welcome to apply for our PhD program.

    Dr Lee has a clinical background in orthotics and prosthetics combined with extensive biomedical engineering training, which gives him a unique advantage of using technology to address various medical problems related to aging and physical rehabilitation. He has successfully completed a number of projects funded by external and internal research grants as Leading Chief Investigator and Principal PhD Supervisor.

    CURRENT PROJECT ON FOCUS:
    Smart shoes, incorporating a biofeedback device and 3D printed insoles, enhancing walking ability and stability of older adults. Highly competitive external grants were received to support the project which is led by Dr Lee.

    Smart-shoe project alone has yielded nine journal papers with Dr Winson Lee as corresponding author. They ere related to studies of walking and postural balance upon separate use of biofeedback and orthopaedic insoles. Of these nine papers, two papers were published in the top 5% and another three were published in the top 10% of journals in respective disciplines based on the Scopus database.

    BROAD RESEARCH APPLICATIONS INCLUDE:
    Technology for elderly people, Smart prosthetic/orthotic devices for people with disabilities, Technology to improve our physical capabilities.

    TOOLS/ EQUIPMENT AVAILABLE:
    Stat-of-the-art equipment for human movement and postural analysis, finite element analysis and CAD software, 3D printing, pressure measurement systems for analyzing pressure for shoes, seating and gripping.
