Teo Treloar was born in Sydney, Australia, in 1974. He completed a Bachelor of Visual Arts at Sydney College of the Arts with 1st class Honours. He undertook a Masters of Visual Arts at the same institution for which he received an Australian Post Graduate Award. Treloar's dissertation, The Mediation of Catastrophe, investigated aesthetic and narrative-based similarities between the technological broadcast of 'real' catastrophic events and those seen within the Hollywood Disaster epic's film genre. More recently, his creative work has been investigating existential narrative constructs and the representation of the male archetype in contemporary drawing practice. Treloar has been exhibiting around Australia since 2008 in both commercial and public galleries. He was included in The National, 2019, at The Museum of Contemporary Art Australia. In 2020 Treloar was awarded the prestigious JADA Drawing Award from Grafton Regional Gallery. Teo currently coordinates the Visual Arts first year program and is the discipline advisor for Visual Arts at the University of Wollongong.
