Overview


Dr Sue Duchesne coordinates the teacher education programs at UOW Bega campus. Working with students in their learning and teaching is exciting and rewarding. As part of this work, she is currently exploring students as partners in learning and teaching, involving students in design and delivery of activities in the Master of Teaching program on regional campuses of UOW. She is also involved in professional development for teachers, with a particular focus on support of mentoring.

Sue co-authors Educational Psychology for Learning and Teaching. This text has been adopted at many universities in Australia and New Zealand, with feedback from students and academics that they appreciate its clear accessible style, focus on the Australian and New Zealand context, and links to practice.

Research Overview


  • Sue has conducted research in parent involvement in schooling, the role of peers in language learning, and teacher education. Her current research interests include development of pre-service teachers, mentoring, and the study of engagement in second language classrooms. Sue was a member of the Staying BRITE team, supporting development of resilience for teachers.

     

    Current research projects include:

    • Building resilience for Early Years teachers using the BRITE modules
    • Engagement in language classrooms
    • Mentoring and professional learning in schools
