Overview

Dr. Shadrack Mutuku is a research scientist in mass spectrometry imaging technologies and its burgeoning lipidomics and metabolomics fields with a focus on understanding molecular composition and cellular processes of biological samples in spatial contexts.

His expertise is centered on matrix-assisted laser desorption ionisation mass spectrometry imaging (MALDI-MSI) using high resolution mass analyzer platforms for unambiguous molecular identification of lipids ultimately for pathological applications in neurodegenerative disorders and cancer. His other interests include small molecule and metabolite imaging in tissues and disease models where MALDI-MSI offers unparalleled insights into pharmacological action of drug candidates.
