She has extensive governance experience in both the university and not for profit arts sector, and her background as both Creative and Executive Director of two of Australia’s leading contemporary arts organisations, has seen her providing expert advice to a range of government and statutory bodies including the Australian Research Council, the Office of Learning and Teaching, and the Australia Council for the Arts: the Australian Government’s arts funding and advisory body, as well as state funding agencies in NSW and Western Australia. She was a founding Board Member of the Australian Council of Deans and Director of Creative Arts (DDCA) from 2013 - 2018.

Successive directorships of the Perth Institute of Contemporary Arts Ltd (PICA) (1994 - 2006) and Performance Space, Sydney (1989 - 1993), saw her producing and presenting exhibitions, seasons, festivals and events locally, nationally and internationally, whilst working to ensure that artists, groups and companies were valued and encouraged in the making of their work

From 2002 to 2009, she was co-curator of Time_Place_Space (T_P_S), an initiative of the Australia Council for the Arts and managed by Performance Space, Sydney. T-P-S was a national professional development strategy for Australian artists exploring new methodologies and practices in hybrid/interdisciplinary arts, with an emphasis on performance. Through PICA she initiated and developed Hatched: National Graduate Show, Australia’s leading survey of emerging visual artists (1994 – 2005); Dancers are space eaters at PICA (1995 – 2005), and was a founding member of Mobile States: touring contemporary performance Australia.
