Overview


Sandy Suardi is a Professor at the School of Accounting, Economics and Finance. His research focuses on issues at the intersection of economics and finance. His works have been published in both economics and finance journals. In finance, he has published in the Journal of Empirical Finance, Quantitative Finance, Financial Review, Journal of Business Finance and Accounting, and the Journal of International Financial Markets, Institutions and Money. In economics, he has published in Regional Studies, Energy Economics, British Journal of Industrial Relations, Economic Inquiry, International Journal of Forecasting, Journal of Economic Surveys,  World Development, and Economics Letters, amongst others. His research has been cited in a senate inquiry and by academics, practitioners and the media. He completed his PhD in economics at the University of Melbourne in 2005. Prior to joining the University of Wollongong, he was employed at the University of Queensland (2005-2007) and La Trobe University (2008-2014).

  • Sandy's research interests are in financial economics and applied macroeconomics. Currently, he is investigating issues concerning market liquidity in a transition economy like China. Another overarching theme of his research revolves around uncertainty and its effect on the macroeconomy.
