Sandra has been with the School of Accounting, Economics and Finance since 2004. Sandra primarily teaches financial accounting subjects at the undergraduate level, although she has also been involved with teaching financial accounting, accounting theory, auditing and regulation at the postgraduate level. Her research interests include financial accounting and international financial reporting standards, particularly from a critical perspective. Sandra is also interested in studies in accounting education, and she is involved in a number of learning and teaching initiatives and committees across the university. Sandra was awarded her PhD in 2014 - its title is "Adoption of International Financial Reporting Standards in Australia: Structure, Agency and Unintended Consequences". Prior to her academic career, Sandra was employed in the private sector, working with a large chartered accounting firm and a large public company. She is a member of Chartered Accountants Australia and New Zealand.
