Arnold, Ria A/Prof (she/her)

Associate Professor Ria Arnold PhD is an Accredited Exercise Physiologist (AEP) and academic at the University of Wollongong, NSW, Australia. 

A/Prof Arnold leads a program of research focused on utilizing exercise to improve health and wellbeing outcomes for people with advanced chronic disease, primarily kidney disease and diabetes. Her research encompasses a translational pipeline from preclinical studies, to randomized controlled trials and a recent focus on optimizing access to allied health within existing health service models.   

She has published over 40 academic works and received over $1.2m in competitive research funding including a NHMRC Fellowship. A/Prof Arnold is a practicing AEP and holds an appointment with Sydney Local Health District, and an adjunct academic appointment at UNSW Sydney.  

A/Prof Arnold serves as the Deputy Chair of the Research Committee for Exercise & Sports Science Australia (ESSA), the national governing body for exercise and sport science professionals and is a member of the Global Renal Exercise Network.
