Overview


Dr. Rabindra Nepal is an internationally recognised academic and researcher in the areas of energy, environment and resource and have previously consulted international organisations like the World Bank, the European Commission, the International Centre for Integrated Mountain Development (ICIMOD) and the Asian Development Bank Institute (ADBI) in these areas. Current projects at the University of Wollongong include with organisations like the Economic Research Institute for ASEAN and East Asia (ERIA) and the Asian Development Bank Institute (ADBI).

Dr. Nepal joined the University of Wollongong in January, 2020 as a Senior Lecturer in Economics from his prior role also as a Senior Lecturer in Economics at the University of Tasmania (2018-2020). Before Tasmania, Dr. Nepal served Massey University in Auckland as a Senior Lecturer in Economics (2017-2018) following a lectureship in Economics at Charles Darwin University in Australia (2015-2017) and a Vice Chancellors (VC) Postdoctoral Fellowship in Economics at the University of Queensland (2013-2015) after completing a Scottish PhD in Economics in 2013. Currently, Dr. Nepal is also a Research Associate of the Energy and Climate Change Program at the Centre for Applied Macroeconomic Analysis (CAMA) at the Australian National University (ANU).

Dr. Nepal is widely published in the research areas of energy, resource and environment (> 40 journal articles and book chapters). Research recognitions include outstanding reviewer by Energy Policy and Economic Analysis and Policy journals. Teaching recognitions include Outstanding Teaching and Unit Coordination (Office of Provost, University of Tasmania) and Lecturer of the Year Award (nomination at Massey University). Currently, also serving as the managing guest editor for a special issue of the journal Energy Economics (ABDC A*) and the Journal of Environmental Management (ABDC A) (an interdisciplinary journal).  Dr. Nepal has currently more than 1,000 google scholar citations with an h-index of 17 with most recent publications at the Energy Policy Research Group of the University of Cambridge, Copenhagen Business School, the Australian National University and the ADBI since joining the University of Wollongong.
