Deep Breath

Type Of Work

  • Creative work

Abstract

  • Deep Breath responds to feelings in the place during this unprecedented crossover of two global crises - the global pandemic and the climate emergency. The diversity of the materials: recycled cotton, linen, silk organza and eco-inks combined with slow making: crocheting, embroidery and collaging explore approaches to sooth human’s and the planet’s vulnerabilities. The intelligence of biological entities: coral and fungi inspires the crochet and transparent silk forms. The work also captures a local bird in flight and an object collected during travels through embroidery. Together these elements underscore the broader theme of wellbeing for human health and the planet.
