Patellofemoral pain syndrome (PFPS) is one of the most common diagnoses among young, physically active populations, affecting 1 in 4 athletes with more than 70 % being between 16 and 25 years old [1-4]. Many researchers have tried to explain the causal relationships for this ailment. The general consensus is that the etiology of patellofemoral pain remains enigmatic and multifactorial and may include intrinsic (skeletal alignment, soft tissue imbalance, biomechanical influences) and extrinsic (environment, equipment) risk factors [2, 5, 6].
