Distributional effects of true economic indexes

Journal Article

Abstract

  • Generalized integrable Working system parameter estimates are used to construct the true differential indexes of (a) the cost of living, (b) the real income, and (c) the marginal prices to study distributional effects of inflation and real income in Australia over the period 1970.IV to 1983.II. The findings provide useful results for disaggregate household analysis and reveal the severe bias of aggregate indexes in sectoral studies of economic welfare. © 1984.
