DETERMINATION OF HOPPER GEOMETRY PARAMETERS USING INTERACTIVE COMPUTER GRAPHICS.

Abstract


  • The design procedure involved in determining the hopper geometry parameters for both mass and funnel flow may be considered in two stages. The first stage entails the determination of the flow properties of the bulk solid at the 'worst' condition it is likely to be handled from a flow viewpoint. The determination of the hopper wall shape and outlet dimension for reliable mass flow or the minimum outlet to ensure an unstable pipe in funnel flow based on the flow properties constitutes the second stage. Two computer programs utilizing interactive graphics have been developed to aid in the processing and analysis required for these two stages.
