DETAILING THE HOPPER-FEEDER INTERFACE FOR EFFECTIVE FEEDING OF BULK SOLIDS FROM MASS-FLOW HOPPERS.

Abstract


  • The detailing of the hopper-feeder interface, including the geometry of skirts and gates, is often totally neglected in the design of bin-feeder systems. This neglect can lead to ineffective feeding and unreliable overall operation of the plant. This paper considers the detail of geometry of the connection between hoppers and feeders and suggests some principles that should be considered for plough, apron, belt and screw feeders.
