TOWARDS AN AUSTRALIAN LOADING CODE FOR SILOS.

Conference Paper

Abstract

  • This paper outlines the approach adopted and the fundamentals used by the Australian committees concerned with Bin and Silo Loads to achieve a standardized approach for evaluating the contents-generated wall loads. The requirement for an approach which was consistent, practical and still be simple, necessitated the development of a novel and convenient technique to evaluate the flow loads encountered in most normal mass-flow and funnel-flow bin situations. The philosophy adopted and the intermediate progressive steps required to develop the technique are explained in detail.
