PREDICTING AND IMPROVING FLOW PERFORMANCE IN DENSE PHASE PNEUMATIC TRANSPORTATION.

Abstract


  • A basic design guide for establishing the feasibility of transporting a bulk solid in the dense phase mode and assessing the relative merits of some of the more common types of conveying systems is presented in this paper. The suggested step-wise procedure consists of: (i) the determination of physical properties; (ii) the classification of powders according to fluidisation and slugging criteria and the selection of a suitable conveying mode; and (iii) pilot plant testing using a standardised-test procedure.
