In this paper, a new three-phase ac-ac boost converter is proposed, which utilizes single switch for the power conversion. The utilization of a single switch reduces the switching power loss compared to its conventional counterpart. Moreover, the proposed converter demonstrates moderate total harmonic distortion in the input line current and facilitates high input power factor operation. Furthermore, the proposed topology exhibits superior performances under sudden change in the load power factor and duty cycle variation. All the simulations are carried out in MATLAB/Simulink environment and a corresponding scaled down laboratory test platform is established. The simulation and the experimental results validate the excellent performances of the proposed ac-ac boost converter topology.
