Kuperee: an approach to authentication using public keys

Abstract


  • In this paper we present a new approach to authentication service called Kuperee. The approach employs the use of key compositions based on a recent and promising public key cryptosystem which has been shown to be secure against the strongest type of attacks, namely the adaptatively chosen ciphertext attacks. The wide range of possible applications of the approach is illustrated by applying it to the problem of hierarchical inter-realm authentication in the form of two protocols based on the notion of localized and globalized keys respectively. These protocols represents a step towards a family of solutions based on the combination of the advantages of private key and public key cryptography.
