Redshifting of the Fundamental Mode of DL-Alanine with Increasing Temperature

Abstract


  • The terahertz spectrum of DL-alanine has been measured over a large temperature range (50-300 K). The fundamental mode has been identified and was found to redshift with increasing temperature. Fitting the peak positions as a function of temperature with a Bose-Einstein distribution, a phonon model of the mode is found to describe its behaviour.
