A metallographic study of creep in zirconium

Abstract


  • Methods are described for optical and electron metallographic analysis of zirconium creep tested over the temperature range 473-873K (200-600°C). The creep microstructures are described and results are presented for determination of the Burgers vector, the dislocation density, the cell size, and the proportions of screw and edge dislocations. The relevance of these results to mechanisms for steady-state creep in zirconium is briefly discussed. © 1977.
