Ostracods from the Gulf of Carpentaria, northeastern Australia

Abstract


  • Reports on 82 species of ostracods, including six new species. Three faunal assemblages were recognized: 1) Fitzmaurice Creek - an upper tidal assemblage dominated by Cyprideis australiensis, 2) a lower tidal and foreshore assemblage dominated by Loxoconcha judithae, Paracytheroma caudatum, Phlyctenophora zealandica and Neomonoceratina bataviana; and 3) a shallow open marine assemblage with a predominance of Neonesidea australis and Neocytheretta spongiosa. -from Authors
