INTEGRATION OF WIND POWER INTO AUSTRALIAN ELECTRICITY GRIDS WITHOUT STORAGE: A COMPUTER SIMULATION.

Abstract


  • A computer simulation is performed of the operation of two fuel-based Australian State electricity grids (WA and SA) with zero storage and added hypothetical wind power capacity. It is found that wind energy contributions of 20 percent (WA) and 30 percent (SA) of the annual grid energy output can be achieved before the losses of unutilized wind energy increase to 20 percent of wind energy generation.
