The Stefan solidification problem with nonmonotonic nonlinear heat diffusivity

Journal Article

Abstract

  • An exact solution is constructed for a Stefan problem with nonlinear heat diffusivity. A liquid solidifies over a semi-infinite base made of a different solid material. Both solid materials have nonlinear temperature-dependent diffusivities with a single maximum. The exactly solvable one-dimensional nonlinear models are realistic representations of a range of real materials.
