Abstract


  • Experimental mixed mode static and dynamic fracture mechanics data are becoming of increasing demand in the application of fracture mechanics to structural design, particularly in regard to rail geometry and material. A mixed mode loading rig has been designed and is now under construction. The philosophy of the rig design is discussed and currently available test results are presented.
