LiMn 2O 4 nanorods synthesized by MnOOH template for lithium-ion batteries with good performance

Abstract


  • Spinel LiMn 2O 4 nanorods have been synthesized through a solid state reaction at 700°C for 10 h by using MnOOH nanorods as the template which were obtained by a hydrothermal route. LiMn 2O 4 nanorods have diameters of 80-170 nm and lengths of several micrometers. Galvanostatic battery testing shows that the synthesized LiMn 2O 4 nanorods can deliver high capacity and good cycle stability (107 and 94 mAh g - 1 at current rate 1 C and 5 C up to 50 cycles, respectively) in the potential window of 3.0-4.3 V. Such good performances may be due to the favorable morphology and the raw material of MnOOH. © 2012 Elsevier B.V. All rights reserved.
