Macrobending standard singlemode fiber and its novel application in optical sensing

Abstract


  • The bend loss of a macrobending standard singlemode fiber is investigated theoretically and experimentally. Related to the wavelength sensitivity of the bend loss, a ratiometric wavelength measurement is developed and a resolution of about 10 pm is achieved. The wavelength monitor for the demodulation of FBG sensing is demonstrated. © 2006 Optical Society of America.
