Application of hydrocarbons in refrigeration industry

Journal Article

Abstract

  • The materials such as freon which are applied widely in the refrigeration industry will damage the ozonosphere and make the greenhouse effect. So, the materials are banned to use in the refrigeration industry. It is an urgent task for the refrigeration industry to find an environment-friendly refrigerating agent. The materials of hydrocarbons such as propane (R290), butane (R600), isobutane (R600a) come from refined gas have excellent thermal physics properties good GWP and zero ODP. So, they are ideal alternatives of freon. The paper discusses their environment features, flammability, pertinent standards and principle of selection. Based on the discussion, the paper thinks the materials of hydrocarbons can be widely used in the refrigeration industry after the necessary measures being taken to keep away their flammability.
