A ribbon-like metallopolymer from 1,4-bis(2-pyridyl)buta-1,3-diyne and silver(I) nitrate

Abstract


  • Reaction of 1,4-bis(2-pyridyl) buta-1,3-diyne with silver (I) nitrate in methanol results in the assembly of a one-dimensional metallopolymer in high yield. An X-ray crystal structure shows this to have a ribbon-like shape, with two crystallographically independent ligands bridging silver atoms separated by ∼ 8.7 Å. © 1998 Elsevier Science S.A.
