Experience with software process in physics projects

Abstract


  • A rigorous software process is known to be one of the key elements for the success of a software project. In spite of its role being widely recognized in software engineering, the adoption of a process is quite unusual in the physics research environment. We present the experience gained in the application of the Unified Process to a variety of software projects in various experimental domains, and the describe how the process has been adapted to the peculiar characteristics of the scientific research environment. © 2004 IEEE.
