Automatic modeling of a computer platform for distributed Manipulation Environment

Abstract


  • In this paper, the current status of FMS and CIM are reviewed, the advantages of the distributed computer architecture over the conventional von Neumann architecture are discussed, and the work conducted on the development of a mathematical model for the Computing Platform (CP) of Distributed Manipulation Environment (DME) is reported. The CP model is based on the definition of DME and the parallel computer architecture on which the DME controller will be implemented. The CP model is the foundation of an Automatic Model Generator (AMG) being developed currently. During the course of this paper, the previous relevant work will be surveyed. The concept of DME will be re-introduced and the CP model defined for it explained. The work conducted so far on AMG will be reported, the advantages and disadvantages of proposed method will be discussed, and the plan for the future work will be finally given.
